2006 SeaFair West Seattle HiYu Parade
Twenty Scouts and ten adult leaders from our Pack met up with Scouts and parents from other Cub Scout Packs in West Seattle to march in the annual SeaFair West Seattle HiYu Parade. We met at the Lafayette Playground (on 44th Avenue SW between SW Admiral Way and SW Lander Street about 1/2 block South of Lander) at 10:30am Saturday morning in uniform, slathered in sunscreen, with water bottles in hand, prepared for our march.
The temperature reached 95 degrees, so we loaded our canoe with two cases of water and our candy. It took quite a while to start this year in contrast to starting right on time last year, so we had lots of time to practice our hand salutes and parade waves. It was also nice to have time to meet and talk with Scouts from other Packs.
We marched from Lander down to SW Edmunds Street and handed out lots of candy to the appreciative crowds on California Avenue. The boys had a fun time guiding the canoe and riding in the Cubmobile.
