Scouting for Food
Each year, Scouts from our Pack walk our neighborhoods delivering door hangers on one Saturday in March, and stop by the following Saturday to collect non-perishable food item donations for delivery to the West Seattle Food Bank. We learn the value of community service and the importance of helping others, while doing our "Good Turn Daily".
This year we collected and weighed over 650 pounds of non-perishable food, loaded it into our truck, brought it to the West Seattle Food Bank, and helped their staff categorize and store the food. After we got the food stowed away, Jack Wagstaff from the food bank told us about the people that come there for food and how we and others help them to feed people who really need our help. Jack also showed us a picture of the new facilities they will soon be moving to on 35th Avenue and Morgan Street, and even provided snacks for our hungry Scouts.
